Indications
Prevention of coronary heart disease:
In coronary artery disease with hypercholesterolemia, when there is inadequate response to dietary measures:
Reduces mortality and the incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Reduces the risk of stroke and transient ischemic attacks.
Reduces the risk of complications during cardiac surgeries (such as coronary artery bypass grafting, percutaneous coronary angioplasty).
Prevents the progression of atherosclerosis, reducing the risk of new lesions and blockages.
Hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia:
In cases of primary hypercholesterolemia to reduce total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglycerides, while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels, alongside adherence to a proper diet.
Treatment of familial heterozygous hypercholesterolemia or mixed hyperlipidemia when diet and other therapeutic measures are insufficient.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to simvastatin or any excipients.
Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of serum transaminases.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Children under 18 years of age.
Concomitant use of Simvastatin with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as: Itraconazole, Ketoconazole, Erythromycin, Clarithromycin, Telithromycin, HIV protease inhibitors, Boceprevir, Telaprevir, Nefazodone, Posaconazole, Gemfibrozil, Cyclosporine, Danazol is contraindicated.
